Naia ™ Staple Cellulosic Fibers To Be Introduced By Eastman

KINGSPORT, Tennessee , February 4, 2020 – Eastman , manufacturer of Naia ™ continuous cellulose yarns from sustainable resources, announces the expansion of its Naia ™ fiber portfolio at the Première Vision Paris (PV) show , the international fashion and textile fair (from 11 to 13 February). With the launch of its new staple cellulosic fibers, Naia ™ offers a new ecological and versatile material, serving sustainable fashion.

“We are delighted to expand our product offerings and have worked with a strong network of innovative partner spinners worldwide to launch our new Naia ™ staple cellulosic fiber,” said Ruth Farrell, International Marketing Director for the industry Eastman textiles. “In collaboration with our value chain partners, we will ensure quick and easy access to Naia ™ fibers for our manufacturers, and ultimately for brands, wherever they are located.”

Naia ™ staple fibers have an inherent softness, dry quickly and reduce pilling. They blend well with other eco-friendly materials, such as lyocell, modal and recycled polyester, resulting in durable fabrics and clothing that are perfect for everyday use.

Eastman will work with various first-rate spinners around the world to create Naia ™ staple fibers, including Karacasu Tekstil in Turkey, Shandong Long Run Textile and Dezhou Huayuan Eco-Technology in mainland China, Pratibha Syntex and RSWM Ltd. in India, or Linz Textil in Austria. These state-of-the-art spinners blend Naia ™ staple fibers with other durable fibers to meet the needs of manufacturers worldwide.

Naia ™ fibers are sourced responsibly from sustainably managed forests and pine and eucalyptus plantations. The entire Eastman forest supply chain meets the Forest Stewardship Council ® supply standards, including controlled wood procedures. Eastman, as well as its wood pulp suppliers, hold chain of custody certifications of FSC ® (C140711) and / or PEFC ™. In addition, Eastman has partnered with Canopy to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to sustainable forest management. The recently released Hot Button Ranking and Reportfor the year 2019 confirms this, since it indicates that the company presents a zero risk of sourcing from old and threatened forests.

Produced according to a secure closed-circuit process in which the solvents are recycled to be reused in the system, Naia ™ fibers benefit from optimized and low-impact manufacturing. Naia ™ has a reduced end-to-end environmental footprint and third-party verified life cycle analysis that meets ISO 14044 standards. Naia ™ fibers are also certified to be biodegradable in freshwater and soil and compostable in industrial environment, having obtained the conformity marks “OK Biodegradable” and “OK Compost” from TÜV AUSTRIA. More recently, Naia ™ staple fibers have received “OK Compost” certification in residential areas.
